Contact fatigue behavior of α-Al2O3-Ti(C,N) CVD coated WC-Co under dry and wet conditions

چکیده
The response to cycling contact fatigue load of a WC-6%Co carbide coated with Ti(C,N)/α-Al2O3 CVD multilayer was investigated in dry and wet conditions. Imprints conditions were characterized by small thin cracks forming circumference at the maximum radii imprint. damaged coating totally present final imprint test. Wet indentations showcase an area where α-Al2O3 layer has been removed throughout ring but kept center indentation, suggesting that damage under is dominated degradation, associated fretting effect or tangential loads accelerating fatigue-corrosion alumina layer.

FRACTURE AND FATIGUE BEHAVIOR OF WC-Co AND WC-CoNi CEMENTED CARBIDES
The fracture and fatigue characteristics of several cemented carbide grades are investigated as a function of their microstructure. In doing so, the influence of binder chemical nature and content (Co and 76wt%Co-24wt%Ni), as well as carbide grain size on hardness, flexural strength, fracture toughness and fatigue crack growth (FCG) behavior is evaluated. Mechanical testing is combined with a d...

متن کاملEffect of Wet and Dry Conditions on Wear Behavior of Amorphous Coating of Fe-Cr-Mo-Nb-C-B
Recently, wear resistant properties of metallic glasses has attracted a lot of interest. Because the surface of metallic glasses are prone to phase transformation, finding the effects of test condition on structure and wear behavior of metallic glasses is important. In this research, by using an automated electrospark deposition (ESD), a layer of Fe51Cr18Mo7B16C4Nb4 was deposited on AISI 316l s...
متن کاملInfluence of Microstructure on Residual Thermal Stresses in TiCxN1-x and α-Al2O3 Coatings on WC-Co Tool Inserts
The microstructures of chemical vapor deposited coatings on four tool inserts have been comprehensively characterized using electron backscatter diffraction mapping and these data have been used as input for finite element models used to calculate the residual thermal strains in the coatings. The results indicate that the thermal strains and stored elastic energy in the α-Al2O3 layer are larger...
